Okay, listen up, fam. Ottawa Public Health just said, "We got measles cases, no cap!" First time since 2019, and it's sus. An adult and a kid got it after traveling internationally. So, like, if you were tryna grab some snacks at Food Basics on Cyrville Road on April 21 between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m., or hitting up Costco at 1405 Blair Towers Place on April 23 between 6 p.m. and 8:45 p.m., you might wanna keep an eye out.

Why? 'Cause you could have been exposed to measles, which is a whole vibe killer. We're talkin' high fever, runny nose, cough, red eyes, and then a rash that's, like, totally not the aesthetic we're going for. Symptoms could pop up anytime in the next 3 weeks, so stay vigilant.

And it's not just Ottawa. Apparently, Ontario's dealing with a whole measles outbreak situation. We're talking over 1,200 cases since the start of the year. A bunch of peeps ended up in the hospital, and some even needed intensive care. Luckily, no one's checked out because of it, but still, that's a major L.

Here's the tea: most of the people who caught the measles weren't vaxxed. So, if you're not sure if you got the jab, now's the time to check your records. The measles vaccine is usually marked as “MMR”, “MMRV” or “M”. If you were born before 1970, you're probably good, but if you were born after, peep your vaccination status. Two doses are usually the wave. Adults born in or after 1970 in Ontario can receive two doses of the MMR vaccine.

If you start feeling sus, hit up your healthcare provider, but let them know you might have been exposed to measles. And if you gotta go to the doctor, mask up with a medical grade one. Stay safe out there, fam!
