Wildfire Update: Long Lake Fire is Wildin' Out 🔥🏡

Okay, so listen up. This Long Lake wildfire is straight-up not playing. It's low-key the biggest wildfire in the whole province right now. It nearly doubled in size since yesterday. Like, WTF? It's sitting at around 807 hectares, which is a whole lotta land, no cap. Apparently, lightning started it, which is kinda sus, tbh.

All the firefighters are out there doing the most to try and stop it. We're talking 44 DNR team members, 5 fire crew from PEI DNR, and 30 local firefighters. They even had two helicopters dropping water like it's hot. But things are still looking kinda grim.

Speaking of grim, they've had to evacuate a whole bunch of houses – 107 to be exact. That's 50 more than yesterday. People are legit worried about losing their homes. It's a whole mood of stress and uncertainty, fr fr.

The Department of Emergency Management is saying "no more" to donations of food and clothes. They're stacked, and it's causing some health and safety issues. So, chill with the good vibes for now, but maybe send some positive energy their way instead. 🙏

And the air quality? Don't even get me started. Environment Canada dropped a special air quality statement for Annapolis Valley. Basically, the air is sus. They're saying stay inside, keep your doors and windows closed, and if you gotta go out, rock an N95 mask. Safety first, fam!

But wait, there's more! A helicopter crashed while fighting the fire. I know, right? More drama. Thankfully, the pilot is "doing well," so that's a major W. But Transport Canada is investigating what went wrong. Like, how does a helicopter just yeet itself into the ground? More on this as it develops...

On top of all this, there's also the Sunset Fire in Athol, Idaho. That's a whole other level of chaos with mad evacuations and homes being threatened. The speed limit is reduced along Highway 95 to try and combat this!
