Okay, so listen up. There's a whole sitch going on near Kelowna Airport. A massive wildfire just popped off east of the airport, and it's causing all sorts of chaos. We're talking tactical evacs in the Ellison Lake area – like, people had to grab their stuff and dip ASAP. Seven properties straight up evacuated. The RCMP is telling everyone else to be ready to bounce if things get worse. Over 100 properties are on evacuation alert which is a yikes!

The fire? It's clocking in at around six hectares in size. BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) ain't playing around, tho. They've got crews, helicopters, air tankers – the whole shebang – trying to get this under control. Word is, the fire's "being held" which means they're lowkey winning, but it's still sus.

Now, about those flights... Kelowna International Airport had to ground everything for a minute, which is a major L for anyone tryna catch a flight. Firefighters from multiple agencies, including the British Columbia wildfire service and local fire departments, are on the scene and tryna cook. Word on the street is that the fire is suspected to be named Whelan Creek. The cause of the wildfire is under investigation.

The federal government predicts a "hot and dry summer" and increased fire danger conditions for much of western and northern Canada. This year's wildfire season is expected to be the second-worst on record which is, like, an L.
