The Deets
Okay, fam, listen up 'cause this is kinda messed up. This teacher, Marnie Burnham (aka Marnie Forin), who was teaching in Greater Victoria, got popped by the Saanich PD. They're hitting her with three counts of sexual exploitation and two counts of using the internet to try and groom someone under 18. That's a whole lotta ick, no cap.
Apparently, the cops started looking into things back in early 2024 after getting some intel. Then, as they dug deeper, they found even more alleged victims, which led to a whole second investigation. This is some serious 🚩🚩🚩 stuff.
For now, Burnham's out on bail, but with some serious restrictions. She can't go near any school property, can't contact anyone under 18 (including the alleged victims), and is basically iced out from doing anything that might sketch anyone out. The school district straight-up put her on unpaid leave and she had to sign something saying she wouldn't teach anymore. The superintendent of SD61, Deb Whitten, sent out a letter mentioning "concerning allegations of inappropriate conduct" so the school district is aware too. They even hit up the police, the Ministry of Education and Child Care, and the Teacher Regulation Branch.
The cops are asking anyone under 18 who had any sus interactions of a sexual nature with Burnham/Forin before December 2024 to hit them up ASAP via email. They need to hear from you, for real.
