UVic Students Found Sketchy Vial of Fentanyl: Fr Fr?

Okay, fam, lemme spill the tea. So, this UVic student named Sidney McIntyre-Starko, just straight up passed away from fentanyl poisoning back in January 2024. It's giving major L vibes. And get this, it all started when some students stumbled upon a box of coolers on a downtown street with an odd vial inside. Police were like, "Yo, that's some Scarface-level stuff." They brought that sus stuff back to campus. Big mistake.

Turns out, the vial had fentanyl-laced drugs. Sidney and two other students snorted it, thinking it was all good. But nah, they all OD'd. At first, they thought she was just having seizures, which is so messed up because it delayed the EMTs from giving them the narcan they needed.

Forensic peeps later confirmed that Sidney had a crazy amount of fentanyl in her blood, like, fatal levels, especially since she wasn't a regular user. The police tryna find who sold the drugs and where it came from, but so far, it's a dead end.

Now, they're holding a coroner's inquest to get all the facts straight. They wanna know exactly what went down and how to stop this from happening again. No cap, they’re not tryna assign blame, just tryna prevent future Ls.

Also, there's been drama about campus security. Apparently, they were slow to give naloxone and do CPR. Now, UVic's trying to get their act together, promising more training and better comms. One of the security guards even admitted he wasn't sure about the narcan. UVic is working to train security guards in case more problems arise.

Sidney's parents are hoping this whole inquest will help make the 911 system better. This is so sad, but hopefully, all this will help so that this doesn't happen again to anyone.
