The Deets

Okay, so, word just dropped that a 3-year-old drowned at Mille Roches Beach in Long Sault, Ontario. This happened Saturday afternoon. Emergency peeps rolled up around 5:45 p.m. and rushed the kid to the hospital, but sadly, they couldn't pull through. 💔

The beach is gonna be closed for a hot minute while they figure things out. This is just the latest in a string of L's this summer, with other drownings at Sandbanks Provincial Park, East Lake, and even the St. Lawrence River. It's giving major unlucky vibes.

The OPP (Ontario Provincial Police) are saying that drowning deaths in Eastern Ontario have literally doubled since last year. Like, what is going on?! There have already been two drownings reported in Ottawa this summer too.

And it doesn't stop there, fam. In Wasaga Beach, a 24-year-old kayaker from Toronto also drowned after their boat flipped. The Wasaga Beach Fire Department found him, and they tried to revive him, but it was too late. The OPP is investigating both of these tragic situations. No names have been dropped yet out of respect for the families.

Stay safe out there, y'all. Water can be low-key dangerous, so always be extra careful. Sending love and strength to everyone affected by these losses. 🙏
