Okay, fam, so Tim Hortons is about to hit us with a price hike on their coffee. Apparently, it's been three years since they last charged more, and they're saying this 1.5% increase is "more than reasonable" considering how much more expensive coffee beans have gotten.

Like, no cap, coffee bean prices have more than doubled in the last three years! We're talking from C$2.21 to C$5.45 per pound. And don't even get me started on grocery store coffee – that stuff was already 27.9% more expensive in August compared to last year. Inflation hitting different fr fr.

Canada gets most of its coffee from Colombia, but Brazil, Mexico, Peru, and Central America also chip in. In July, the coffee trade was worth over $1.3 billion, with 131 million kilograms of unroasted coffee being imported. But here's the tea: U.S. tariffs on Brazilian coffee might be part of the problem, cuz most of Canada's roasted coffee comes from the U.S. and Canada had retaliatory tariffs against the U.S. that might have made the price of coffee worse.

Loblaw is saying that coffee prices are almost at their 2025 highs, blaming U.S. tariffs on Brazil and the coffee growers for keeping the global coffee market all over the place.

In other news, two Canadians got detained in Israel for being part of a flotilla trying to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza. Global Affairs Canada is on it, offering help, but can't spill all the deets cuz of privacy reasons. Sounds like things are kinda sus over there, tbh.
