The Deets

Okay, so listen up. Last night in Nanaimo, this 25-year-old guy was giving everyone the ick. People were worried about him, and turns out he was chilling in his room on Haliburton Street, locked and loaded.

The cops rolled up around 7:20 p.m., and it was a whole scene. They called in the big guns – the Vancouver Island Emergency Response Team and some crisis negotiators to try and talk him down. They low-key shut down the area to keep everyone safe.

After about three hours of back and forth, the dude finally came out. No shots fired, which is a major W. They cuffed him under the Mental Health Act and took him to the hospital for a psychiatric assessment. Gotta prioritize mental health, fr fr.

And get this – when they searched his room, they found a rifle, ammo, and even body armor. Like, what was this guy planning? Glad it ended without anyone getting hurt. Big ups to the Nanaimo PD for keeping it 100 and resolving this peacefully. They even thanked the residents for being patient while they sorted things out. Stay safe out there, fam!
