The Deets
Okay, so peep this. On December 12, 2024, this guy, Shawn Douglas Bergstrom, allegedly rolled up on some innocent bystander on No. 3 Road in Richmond and yoinked their Toyota Tacoma at knifepoint. Like, who does that? 🔪
The cops showed up quick, but this dude was NOT about to get caught. He straight-up high-tailed it south on Highway 99, blew past the Peace Arch border crossing like it was a suggestion, and zoomed into Washington state. Apparently, he even bumped into another car while trying to escape. Major L move.
The US Border Patrol and Washington State Patrol were all over this guy. They chased him down, eventually PIT maneuvering (aka ramming) the truck near the Bow Hill rest area. Game over, man. Bergstrom got arrested and spent some time in the US for a bunch of charges, including assault and reckless driving.
Fast forward to June 10, 2025, the US officials were like, "Aight, Canada, he's your problem now." They shipped Bergstrom back across the border, and he's now facing robbery charges in Canada. He had a court appearance on June 11th, and he's stuck in jail until his next appearance on June 26th. Oh, and word on the street is they found a whole machete in the truck. 😬
