The Deets
Alright, fam, listen up. This is kinda heavy. A 22-year-old swimmer from Georgina was just chilling in Skeleton Lake when, out of nowhere, this boater comes blazing through and SMACKS into him. Like, full-on collision. We're talking life-threatening injuries, so they had to yeet him to a Toronto hospital in a helicopter. Fr fr, this is not the vibe.
Turns out the boater, this 39-year-old dude from Niagara Falls, was allegedly driving under the influence. The cops rolled up and arrested him on the spot. They hit him with a whole laundry list of charges, including impaired operation causing bodily harm, failing to stop at an accident causing bodily harm, refusing to comply with a demand, and failing to comply with a release order. Basically, he's cooked.
He's currently locked up, waiting for his bail hearing. The police are out here reminding everyone that impaired driving, whether it's on the road or on the water, ain't it. They said the penalties for boating while zooted are the same as driving while zooted. So don't be a clown, keep it 100, and don't risk it. If you see someone looking sus behind the wheel (or the helm), dial 9-1-1 ASAP.
