The Deets
Okay, so the Prairie provinces are dealing with some major cap when it comes to wildfires. Like, it's a whole crisis. In Saskatchewan, the RCMP (that's the Royal Canadian Mounted Police for the uninitiated) just slapped arson charges on two individuals. Apparently, they were out here setting fires, which is a big yikes.
One suspect is an 18-year-old woman from Montreal Lake Cree Nation. The other is a 36-year-old guy from Pelican Narrows. They're tryna figure out who set a sus fire at a firefighting base. Major L.
Meanwhile, in Manitoba, things are also looking kinda rough. Another 1,000 residents had to evacuate. We're talking almost 19,000 people totally displaced from their homes across the province. The town of Snow Lake had to issue a mandatory "get out now" order. No cap, this is a whole disaster.
Both Saskatchewan and Manitoba have declared a state of emergency to get things under control. Manitoba even called in the military for backup. The Canadian Red Cross is setting up shelters for everyone who had to leave their homes.
Oh, and in Alberta, some residents of Swan Hills got the green light to go back home, while others in the Municipal District of Opportunity were told to pack their bags and dip. It's just a wild scene all around, fr fr.
