TL:DR

Okay, so Saskatchewan is kinda on fire rn. Like, actual wildfires. Candle Lake might have to bounce. Fire bans everywhere, and most of it is our fault (ugh, humans). The SPSA is throwing resources at it, but things are looking a little sus.

The Deets

Alright, fam, listen up. Saskatchewan is dealing with some major heat – literally. As of May 15, 2025, there were 11 active wildfires, which is, like, the same as last year (which was already extra). The vibe is not good.

Basically, it's drier than my sense of humor out there, especially up north. That means fire bans are in effect for most of the southern and central areas, and all the way up to the Churchill River. If you're planning on camping or anything, hard pass. It's a no from me, dawg.

And here's the tea: most of these fires are caused by humans. So, like, let's try to be less chaotic, yeah?

There are two fires that are seriously wildin' out. The Shoe fire near Lower Fishing Lake has burned, like, 16,000 hectares. And the Camp fire north of Snowden has devoured 32,000 hectares since May 6th. Huge L.

Candle Lake is on pre-evacuation alert, which means they might have to dip if things get worse. The SPSA is trying to keep it 100, throwing 53 resources at the Camp fire and 65 at the Shoe fire.

People in the RM of Garden River are stressing because they've been through this before. It's giving dΓ©jΓ  vu and nobody's here for it.
