Sask. Measles Outbreak is Giving Major Yikes! 😬

Alright, listen up! There's some serious ickiness going down in Sask. We're talking a full-blown measles outbreak, and it's not a vibe. As of, like, yesterday, May 14th, there are 37 confirmed cases. That's basically double the cases we saw from 2012 to 2024. Big yikes!

The real tea? This is spreading within communities in some southern, rural areas. That means it's harder to yeet this virus back to where it came from. 😬

So, here's the sitch on vaxx rates: Province-wide, we're looking at 91% of kids getting their shots before starting school. That sounds pretty Gucci, right? Wrong! Some communities are lagging with as low as 50-60%. 🚩 Thankfully, the vaxx rates are going up tho, about 2000 people got a shot within the last week!

Now, the Chief Medical Health Officer dropped some knowledge bombs. They said if 100 fully vaxxed people are exposed to measles, only ONE is likely to catch it. But if 100 unvaxxed people get exposed, EVERY SINGLE ONE is gonna be sick. 💀 That's some serious science, y'all.

Sadly, 5 people, mainly kids, are already in the hospital because of measles. They've got severe pneumonia and are chilling (not in a good way) in the ICU. 😭

And here's another thing to consider: About 10% of measles cases can get super serious. We're talking ear infections, pneumonia, or even brain swelling. That's why 5-10% of people who get measles end up needing to be hospitalized. That's no cap. 🤒
