Yo, listen up. Pope Francis, the head honcho of the Catholic Church, just clocked out. He was 88, and word is he was dealing with some health stuff. But let's keep it 100, before he yeeted himself outta here, he did some stuff that was kinda a big deal.

Remember those residential schools in Canada? Total L move, right? Well, Pope Francis actually apologized for the Catholic Church's part in all that. Like, he went to Canada in July 2022 and said sorry right there in Maskwacis, Alberta. He was all, "My bad, we messed up big time with the abuse, the culture getting destroyed, and forcing people to be someone they weren't." Some people were like, "Okay, cool, but what else you gonna do?" Others were just glad he finally said something. But his apology was a moment for sure.

And it's not just that. He was kinda different from other Popes. He was the first one from Latin America, which is wild. And he was all about being nice to the LGBTQ+ community. He even said, "Who am I to judge?" about gay people. That's kinda iconic, tbh.

He even started letting same-sex couples get blessed unofficially, except in Africa where it's still kinda sus. But on other issues he was stuck in his ways -- like straight up hating on abortion.

Oh, and he was super into saving the planet. Like, he dropped a whole document called "Laudato si'" and another one called "Laudate Deum" about how we need to take care of the Earth. Eco-friendly Pope? We stan!

Of course, not everything was sunshine and rainbows. He had to deal with all those scandals about priests messing with kids. He tried to fix it by creating a special group to protect minors, but some people thought he could have done more, especially with that one bishop in Chile.

And then there was that whole thing with the Ukraine war. He kinda suggested that Ukraine should talk to Russia, which didn't sit right with a lot of people. Some thought that was kinda sus given the situation.

Anyway, now that he's gone, they're gonna have a whole conclave thing to pick a new Pope. So, yeah, that's the tea. Pope Francis is gone, but he definitely left his mark.
