TL:DR
A City of Ottawa employee, lowkey a whole lawyer named Iain Aspenlieder, just got the boot after allegedly tagging the National Holocaust Monument with "Feed Me" in red paint. He's facing some serious charges, and the city was like, "Nah, we good."
The Deets
Okay, so boom. On June 9, 2025, someone decided to get a lil' too creative with the National Holocaust Monument in Ottawa. They straight-up sprayed "Feed Me" on it in red paint. Like, who does that?!
Turns out, the alleged culprit is Iain Aspenlieder, a 46-year-old lawyer who worked for the City of Ottawa. He was already on leave when this went down, but the city wasn't tryna hear it. They canned him ASAP.
He's now facing charges for mischief to a war memorial, damage over $5,000, and harassment by threatening conduct. Big yikes! He even had a court appearance, but the judge is still deciding whether to let him out on bail. Decision's dropping July 2.
The Ottawa Police are treating this seriously and are asking anyone who knows anything to hit up the Hate and Bias Crime Unit. This is not the vibe, fam. Let's keep it 100 and respect the monuments, ya feel?
FYI, the National Holocaust Monument is a super important place that commemorates the six million Jewish people who were murdered during the Holocaust. So, vandalizing it? Major L.
