The Deets
Okay, so boom. This Ontario granny was just chilling at her crib when this woman, described as being around 40 years old and about 5'7" with a medium build, rolled up. But here's the sus part: instead of being a friendly neighbor, she was plotting a scheme.
The suspect put a fake necklace on the senior citizen while allegedly swiping her real gold one. The granny seemed totally clueless and even thanked her! Talk about being played. The whole thing went down on September 8th around 3:30 pm in Flamborough. The video footage is circulating, and it's wild to see how smooth this theft was.
The police are calling it a "distraction theft," which is apparently a whole thing now. Basically, these thieves try to distract you to swipe your stuff. Hamilton PD is saying distraction thefts are skyrocketing. Like, from 9 cases in 2021 to 54 in 2024! And this year's already got 43 cases from January to August. Sheesh!
The cops are asking everyone to keep their eyes peeled. If you see this woman, don't approach her. Call the authorities ASAP and try to get a good description of her and any whip she's driving. Stay safe out there, fam. This world is wildin'.
