Okay, fam, listen up. This Oakville dude, name's Rafael Layton, is looking mad sus. Apparently, he was running this whole scam where he'd pretend to be some big shot at Toyota, tryna finesse new Canadians. And get this, a lot of these folks were just trying to make a living driving for Uber or Lyft. SMH.
This dude was straight-up asking for their passports, SIN numbers, bank deets, the whole shebang. Then, he'd allegedly use that info to cop phones, cars, and even rent an apartment, all under their names. Like, how scummy can you get?
The cops finally caught up to him in April, and they're hitting him with all sorts of charges – fraud over $5000, identity fraud, false pretenses, the works. They've found at least three victims so far, but they're pretty sure there are more out there who haven't said anything yet. He also apparently goes by Rafiq and Ali.
