Yo, Newfoundland and Labrador are straight-up dealing with a "hold up, wait a minute, somethin' ain't right" sitch. Wildfires are raging, forcing mad communities to dip. Evac orders dropped, power's out, and the air quality is sus. Water bombers and ground crews are on it, but it's still a whole mess. Stay safe out there, fam!

The Tea

Okay, so boom. Newfoundland and Labrador (NL) is going through it rn. Wildfires are spreading faster than TikTok trends, and they're forcing people to evacuate. We're talking Small Point–Adam’s Cove–Blackhead–Broad Cove, Kingston, Western Bay, Ochre Pit Cove, Conception Bay South, and Holyrood all under threat. Straight-up chaos, no cap.

The heroes? Firefighters are out there with water bombers, helicopters, and ground crews, going hard to fight these flames. But get this, Newfoundland Power even had to cut the juice in some areas to help out. Talk about a power move for safety!

If you're in Western Bay, listen up! The word is to head north on Route 70 and hit up the Canadian Red Cross. They're setting up shop at Persalvic School Complex in Victoria, or you can call them at 709-729-0921. Don't sleep on this, it's for your own good.

The Holyrood fire is especially a problem, they are saying it's out of control at 20 hectares. The Kingston fire is 258 hectares. The Holyrood Fire Department, RCMP, and Central Avalon Ground Search and Rescue were on the scene overnight, because things were so intense. The state of emergency, evacuation order, and road closures are still in effect so proceed with caution. The forest dept. says the fire is "very active" and they will continue to fight the flames.

Oh, and the air? Yeah, that's not vibing either. Environment Canada dropped a special air quality statement because of all the smoke. So, if you can, try to chill indoors and limit your time outside. Lungs will thank you later.

Mad businesses and community members are stepping up to help those evacuating. They're offering places to crash and even helping with pets. It's heartwarming to see people come together when things get real. Props to everyone doing their part!

The Towns of Small Point–Adam’s Cove–Blackhead–Broad Cove and Kingston has also been put under an evacuation order, with the fire being 1km away from the community. There have been 191 wildfires this season, so they are really going through it.
