Alright, real talk. The maintenance crew for the STM (aka your bus and Metro overlords) is staging a walkout, starting June 9 and running 'til June 17. This is gonna be a major vibe kill for anyone who relies on public transit to get around the city. Like, your commute is about to get way more complicated.

The good-ish news? The Administrative Labour Tribunal stepped in to prevent a complete shutdown, so the Metro won't be totally ghosted. They made the STM keep essential services running. Apparently, the STM and Syndicat du transport de Montréal worked out some kinda agreement. So expect significantly reduced service during the strike. Regular service will be up and running during Montreal Grand Prix (June 13-15), so you'll still be able to get to the party, fam.

Bus Situation: Prepare for major cuts to bus service. Operating hours are gonna be all over the place, depending on the day. Some days will have no service outside of limited hours. Other days will have a 50% reduction. So, yeah, it's gonna be a mess.

Metro Madness: Same sitch with the Metro. Reduced hours are the name of the game. No Metro outside of the reduced hours on some days, and 50% reductions other days. Check the schedule before you head out, or you might be waiting a hot minute.

Paratransit, tho, is gonna keep doing its thing. So at least there's that. The STM's advice? Plan your trips way ahead of time, see if you can WFH, and maybe consider walking or cycling if you can. They're holding a press conference soon to drop more deets about the strike and what essential services are gonna look like. Plus, apparently, STM bus and Metro operators voted to get a bit rowdy, including an unlimited general strike.
