Okay, so listen up. There's a whole measles sitch going on in North America rn. We're talking the US, Canada, and Mexico all dealing with a surge. Over 2.5k cases have been confirmed, and sadly, there have been some losses 🥺.

Measles is like, mega contagious. If you catch it, expect a high fever, cough, runny nose, and red/watery eyes. Oh, and a rash. But fr, it can lead to ear infections, pneumonia, and even brain swelling, which can cause some serious perm damage or worse.

So, why is this happening? Well, herd immunity is the goal, which means 95% of ppl need to be immune to stop the spread. Vaxxes are the way to go! The MMR vax is like 97% effective. But vaccination rates are dropping, and that's the tea.

In the US, Texas is kinda the epicenter with over 935 cases across 30 states. Canada's having its worst outbreak in 25+ years in Ontario with over 1,000 cases. Mexico's also seeing a spike, especially in Chihuahua, with 786 cases reported.

Misinfo and vax hesitancy are big yikes. Ppl are getting exemptions for personal or religious reasons, which isn't helping. There are even anti-vaxxers out there spreading fake news, like the myth that vaxxes cause autism. Seriously?

Some Mennonite communities are being hit hard too. And some ppl are sus about certain political appointments, like Robert F. Kennedy Jr. He's said some things against vaxxes, which is a red flag for health experts.

Basically, decreased vax rates, misinfo, and mobility across borders are making measles spread like wildfire. Health officials are communicating and setting up vax clinics, but we need to get those vax rates up ASAP. Stay safe, fam!
