The Vibe Check

Okay, fam, listen up. Manitoba is straight-up dealing with a crisis. Over 14,300 people from 5,400 households had to skedaddle due to those gnarly wildfires. We're talking entire communities, like Mathias Colomb Cree Nation, completely empty. It's a whole mess.

Big ups to Indigenous Services Canada and the Province of Manitoba for helping out, supporting around 2,400 and 3,000 households, respectively. But, like, imagine having to leave your whole life behind in a hurry? That's rough, buddy.

Right now, there are 27 active wildfires in Manitoba. So far this year, there have been 111. Some started way back in May and are still classified as out of control. The fire near Pimicikamak Cree Nation, for example, is HUGE and they are still tryna pull people out using buses to Norway House Cree Nation, then flying them out on a military plane. Hundreds have already landed in Niagara Falls.

The province is begging people who evacuated to sign up for some financial aid. They're trying to keep people afloat out here. On the slight up and up side, they're opening parts of Whiteshell Provincial Park, with most of Caddy Lake and West Hawk Lake now accessible. Campgrounds in Brereton, Caddy, West Hawk, and White lakes are scheduled to reopen Friday at 4 p.m.
