Okay, so Manitoba is going through it right now. They've declared a provincewide state of emergency AGAIN because the wildfires are raging. We're talking over a million hectares burned – that's like, 10x more than usual. It's a whole disaster movie out there.

Like 12,600 people had to bounce from their homes. The government's setting up a major convention center in Winnipeg as a safe house for all the evacuees. Even the military had to step in and airlift people out of Garden Hill First Nation, that's wild! Also, Snow Lake just yeeted 1,000 residents out to keep them safe. Meanwhile Saskatchewan is also dealing with wildfires but lowkey fewer people had to evacuate (like under 1,000 people).

But wait, there's more drama! Trump's out here threatening Canada with a 35% tariff starting August 1st. He slid into Mark Carney's DMs with a letter, basically saying "negotiate a new deal or else." He's allegedly pressed about fentanyl flow and the trade deficit and the dairy sector.

Also, heads up: in Ontario, a teenager got booked with attempted murder and sexual assault of an eight-year-old girl. At first, the police thought it was an animal attack, but nah. The child's still in the hospital, sending good vibes only 🙏.

Statistics Canada is dropping the June jobs data. The predictions ain't good. Economists are saying hiring is slow and the jobless rate might jump to 7.1%. The tea is trade-sensitive sectors took a hit because of the tariff drama with the US.

In more positive news, the Canadian government is set to drop their plan to reimburse auto dealers for unclaimed electric vehicle rebates. The program which provided like $5,000 for new zero-emission cars was paused in January. Dealers are supposedly out like $11 million. Good job doing the right thing Canada!
