Alright, listen up, fam. There's a measles outbreak in British Columbia and it's low-key kinda scary. We're talking 102 confirmed cases THIS YEAR, and 10 peeps already stuck in the hospital. Six of those hospitalizations are in Northern Health.

The epicenter? Northern BC. Apparently, 71 infections have been reported by the Northern Health authority. The whole thing started poppin' off at the end of May, spreading through pockets of unimmunized peeps.

Word is, even people who went to a prenatal clinic in Fort St. John might've been exposed. So, if you were there, maybe get checked out, just to be safe, ya know?

But here's the tea: BC's immunization rate is around 84%. The Deputy Provincial Health Officer is straight-up telling everyone to get immunized. They're saying it's safe and effective, and honestly, it's the vibe check we all need rn.

And for all the pregnant peeps and those with infants: y'all are extra at risk. Measles can hit different for you, so def prioritize getting protected. BC is even prepping for potential congenital measles cases (when babies are born with it).

Comparing to other provinces, Alberta's got 1,230 infections since March, and Ontario is leading with 2,244 confirmed cases since October. Ontario even reported an eighth infant born with congenital measles since last fall. So, yeah, it's a whole situation.
