Okay, so listen up, fam. This is heavy. Two dudes, Harshkumar Ramanlal Patel and Steve Anthony Shand, are about to get sentenced for some serious stuff. They were running this whole operation where they were bringing people from India to Canada using student visas and then tryna sneak 'em across the U.S. border. But, like, things went totally sideways.

Back in January 2022, a whole family – Jagdish Patel, his wife Vaishaliben, and their kids Vihangi and Dharmik – froze to death trying to cross the border in the middle of a blizzard. Can you even imagine? The temps were, like, ridiculously low, and they weren't dressed for it at all. Tragic, fr.

Now, the prosecutors are pushing for nearly 20 years in the slammer for Patel (they're saying he was the ringleader) and almost 11 years for Shand (he was supposedly the driver). They were both found guilty on four counts, so it's not looking good for them. The feds are calling it "unthinkable cruelty."

The defense is tryna say it wasn't that deep. Patel's lawyers are claiming the evidence is sus, and Shand's attorney is saying the sentence is way too harsh and asking for only 27 months. But the jury wasn't buying it, and now these guys are facing the music at the federal courthouse in Fergus Falls, Minnesota.

Word is, these guys were running multiple smuggling trips, telling migrants to walk in a straight line in the dark with barely any clothes. It’s a whole L situation.
