TL:DR

Vancouver's Lapu Lapu Day fest turned into a whole mess. Some dude in a whip plowed into the crowd, and it's straight-up tragic. Eleven people, ages 5 to 65, are no longer with us. Suspect's in custody, and the whole city's tryna process this. Sending love to everyone affected.

The Deets

Okay, fam, listen up. Last Saturday at the Lapu Lapu Day block party in Vancouver – a huge Filipino festival – things went totally sideways. Some 30-year-old dude from Vancouver, Kai-Ji Adam Lo, was allegedly behind the wheel of a black Audi SUV when it drove straight into the crowd. No cap, eleven people got clapped, ranging from little kids to grandparents, and dozens more are hurt. It's a whole tragedy, and the city is shook.

The suspect is locked up and facing eight counts of murder. He's got a history with the police and healthcare peeps related to his mental health, which is adding another layer to this messed-up situation. The police chief called it the "darkest day in the city's history." They're not calling it terrorism, but they ARE gonna be looking into the event's safety plans to figure out what went wrong.

The Filipino community is hurting right now, but they're getting mad love and support from all over the globe. A prayer vigil was held, and everyone's just trying to heal and remember those we lost. Even politicians are sending their condolences, saying they're gonna work on making sure events are safer in the future.

One of the victims has been identified as Rizza, who leaves behind a husband. Her family is going through it right now, tryna get her body back to the Philippines. There are GoFundMe pages up to help her fam and all the other victims. If you can spare anything, it would mean the world. And if you're struggling with this news, hit up VPD Victim Services Unit and VictimLinkBC – they're there to help, no cap.
