The Tea
Okay, so listen up, fam. Leaf Rapids in Manitoba is dealing with a major sitch. A massive wildfire crossed the Churchill River and straight-up rolled into town. Like, can you even imagine?
The whole town had to evacuate. We're talking everyone. The firefighters and essential workers dipped too, because the smoke was THICK, and conditions were way too dangerous. They straight-up bounced. Like they were screaming "We outtie!"
The fire's spreading south. It even went past South Indian Lake Road (PR 391). It first spread to the Industrial area. One fire is over 30,300 hectares, to give you an idea of how big it is. Leaf Rapids already declared a state of emergency on July 7. A former mayor is stressing hard 'cause nobody knows when they can go back home.
The damage? Still unknown. No one's got the deets yet, and we probably won't get an update 'til morning. This whole thing is sus, ngl.
BTW, back on July 11, 2025, Manitoba RCMP were already helping evacuate South Indian Lake, Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation, and Kitiganwacheeng (Garden Hill First Nation). So this whole area's been dealing with it. Stay safe out there!
