Okay, besties, listen up! The Winnipeg Jets just went OFF in Game 5 against the Dallas Stars! They straight-up clutched the W with a 4-0 victory, forcing a Game 6 in Dallas. No cap, the vibes are immaculate.
To celebrate (and stress-watch), they're throwing a Whiteout Watch Party at Canada Life Centre on May 17th. Doors open at 6 p.m., puck drops at 7 p.m. It's gonna be lit! Jumbotron, prizes, the whole shebang. If the Jets pull off another W, they're back home for Game 7 on Monday. Let's GOOOOO!
Manitoba's Wildfire Crisis is a Major L
But, like, real talk for a sec. Things are getting super serious in Manitoba. There are mad wildfires raging rn, some completely out of control near Lac du Bonnet, Bird River, Piney, and even crossing over from Ontario in Ingolf. Over 1,000 people had to dip and evacuate, and like 1,200 peeps fleeing Ontario's fires had to come to Manitoba. It’s actually insane.
The Premier's out here begging everyone to not be dummies and start any fires this long weekend. Whiteshell Provincial Park is closed, they declared a state of emergency, and the flags at the legislature are lowered. The vibe is def not it.
And for the worst news: two people were found dead in the wildfire near Lac du Bonnet. The fire is massive, like 4,000 hectares. The one in Piney is even bigger at 7,000 hectares, and the Ingolf fire in Ontario is a whopping 23,000 hectares. Smoke is making it hard for the firefighters to do their thing. Keep them in your thoughts. Seriously though, stay safe and be smart. Don't be the reason another fire starts. It's not a joke.
