Okay, so boom! Cold Lake First Nations went all out on June 20th for National Indigenous Peoples Day. They had a full-on vibe check at the Casino Dene parking lot. The day was packed with more fire than a TikTok dance challenge. Vendor market? Check. Face painting? Check. Giveaways for the culture? Double-check! They even had a grand entry featuring the Warrior Society Drum Group and some next-level powwow moves. Notorious Cree showed up and shut it down with a performance that had everyone vibing. Chief Kelsey Jacko (fresh off the re-election, BTW) dropped some knowledge about unity. MLA Scott Cyr gave a shoutout to the late, great Dene artist Alex Janvier, and Mayor Craig Copeland was all about that community partnership with Cold Lake First Nations. It was a whole love fest, no cap.
