Is Every Election Really the "Most Important" Tho? 🤔

Bruh, for real, it feels like every time there's an election in Canada, someone's yelling about how it's the "most important of our lifetime." Like, can we chill for a sec? We've been hearing that since, like, the 1800s, no cap.

This time around, we're dealing with a whole vibe. We got beef with the US over tariffs, and some people are saying the US president even thought about snatching Canada. And the people are stressing about inflation and healthcare too. A recent poll showed that a whole 35% are worried about the US beef.

But let's rewind a bit. Back in 1841, they were saying the first election after Upper and Lower Canada linked up was the most important. Then in 1900, some dude was campaigning about canals, and that was apparently the most important thing ever. Fast forward to 1962, and Lester B. Pearson was like, "This is the most important election EVER." 1979 Pierre Trudeau had the same energy. Remember 1988? NAFTA was the main character then.

Even in 1997, after that whole Quebec referendum drama, people were saying it was the most important. Bruh, even 2021 Justin Trudeau was like, “maybe the most important since 1945 and certainly in our lifetimes.” But it gets better. In 1946, even some city council election was the "most important" one.

So, like, is *this* election actually different? Or are we just thirst trapping for attention?
