These weren't just any randos either. The researchers are saying that these were probably tribal or clan-based societies, led by some seriously elite warriors. The hill had bronzeworking workshops. Bet.

They even dug up a ceramic pot filled with lentils and cereal bits, like, that’s how they get their food! Mad respect for keeping it real and showin' us how they lived back in the day. These hoards revealed a smooth transition between the Late Bronze and Early Iron Ages. The continuous settlement on the hilltop during the transition period contradicts previous assumptions.

Six stashes of metal swag from over 3,000 years ago were unearthed on Somló Hill in Hungary. To analyze these, they brought out the big guns: metal detectors, field-walking surveys, magnetic prospection, and even airborne laser scanning (lidar). They were even buried in ceramic pots! Computed tomography (CT) scanning and neutron tomography revealed a sophisticated ritual and symbolic behavior system, potentially linked to an elite warrior class.

Basically, this hill was the place to be back in the day. It might have been the main hangout spot for the whole Late Bronze Age crew. Who knew Hungary had such a lit history? Bet there’s more history to come, too. More studies are soon to reveal an even more precise chronology of occupation.
