Aight, listen up, fam. Word on the street is that Gen Z in Canada is low-key starting to turn up more. A recent survey by IWSR (it's a British-based firm) says that 69% of us (that's peeps aged 18-27) reported drinking in the last six months. That's a whole 13% jump from spring 2023 when only 56% were hitting the sauce. IYKYK

Now, some oldhead studies were saying Gen Z was gonna be all about that sober life. But this new data is kinda sus. According to this survey, a third of us Canadian Gen Z drinkers are hitting up bars, restaurants, and clubs, which is wild. And almost four out of five are ordering spirits. We are not drinking White Claws.

So how do other generations compare? Millennials are pretty steady, still enjoying their drinks, while Gen X and Boomers might be slowing down a bit. Maybe they can't hang anymore?

But why the sudden change for us? Turns out, as we get older, we're making more money. This is probably why we are spending more on drinks at bars and the LCBO. Also, more of us are finally hitting the legal drinking age, which obvs bumps up the numbers. Big W.

And it's not just a Canada thing either. Gen Z in the US, UK, India, and Australia are also drinking more. So, like, maybe we're just catching up? Or maybe the vibes are just right for a good time? *shrugs*
