Okay, so boom. Back on March 23, 2021, things got wild near Ritchie Market in Edmonton. Cops rolled up on Lee Van Beaver, and ex-officer Oli Olason ended up getting charged with using excessive force. The Crown was BIG MAD, saying the security cam footage straight-up showed Olason stomping, kicking, and putting his whole weight on Beaver while he was tryna surrender, like, seriously?

But the defense was quick to clap back, arguing that Beaver was fighting back and had bear mace on him, so it was all good. They also tried to say the video was low-key sus and didn't show the whole vibe. The jury bought it, 'cause they were only in deliberation for like, two hours before they hit Olason with the "not guilty." Case closed, right? 🙄

Now, peep this: Another officer, Dustin Adsett, already got acquitted for the same incident last year. The judge at Adsett's trial was NOT feeling the police tactics, saying Beaver's arrest was straight-up "assaultive." Beaver claims he had the bear spray 'cause he'd been robbed before, but the defense was all over the place, pointing out inconsistencies in his story and even using a paramedic's take on the injuries to try and clear their client. It's giving he said, she said but make it police edition.

The prosecution tried to throw it back, pointing out that Olason's story wasn't adding up either, and that cops can't just be out here doing whatever they want. But it wasn't enough, fam. Adsett even testified that he was shook by the surveillance footage. WILD. And get this - Olason ain't even a cop in Edmonton anymore! He dipped and is working for the tax department in Iceland! Talk about a plot twist! 🤯
