Okay, fam, this ain't a drill. The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit just dropped a major truth bomb: there's been a crazy spike in overdoses – like, nine in a hot minute (July 23 to August 2), and one ended tragically. Someone actually passed away, which is not the vibe AT ALL.

Apparently, there's some seriously sus stuff circulating in the unregulated drug scene in Simcoe and Muskoka. We're talking substances that can knock you OUT cold and straight-up stop your breathing. The cops are even throwing out names like carfentanil and fluorofentanyl, which are apparently way stronger than fentanyl. Sketchy AF, right?

And there's this new substance called "red down" that everyone's saying is sus. They think there is fentanyl or fentanyl's evil cousins, some animal tranquilizers, and benzos. This is all a recipe for disaster, don't be caught sleeping!

So, the Health Unit's giving out some real talk:

• Test Your Stuff: If you can get your hands on a testing strip, use it. Better safe than sorry, no cap.
• Squad Up: Don't use alone. Make sure you're with people you trust who know how to use naloxone.
• Hit Up NORS: If you're rolling solo, call or text the National Overdose Response Line. They've got your back.
• Dial 911: If you're feeling off, or if you see someone OD'ing, call for help ASAP.
• Naloxone is Your BFF: Keep it close and make sure you've got a fully stocked kit.
