Okay, so Chatham-Kent just got hit with some wild weather. Barns are gone, roofs are MIA, trees are doing the limbo, and hydro poles are straight-up napping. Turns out it was a downburst, not a tornado, but still a major L for everyone involved. π¬

Fam, listen up! Chatham-Kent in Ontario just got YEETED by a downburst on May 15, 2025. And when I say "yeeted," I mean, like, full-on chaos. We're talking barns turned to dust, roofs flying away like they're trying to escape, trees doing the Macarena on the ground, and hydro poles just straight-up gave up. π
Judy O'Rourke and Gary Clark are just two of the many residents who got their property turned upside down. Imagine waking up and your barn is just...gone. Like, where did it even go?! π€―
The Northern Tornadoes Project (NTP) swooped in to investigate and was like, "Nah, fam, this ain't no tornado. This is a downburst." Apparently, the winds were hitting like 130 km/hr. The damage path was a whole 9.0 km long and up to 1.5 km wide. That's a big oof. π
For those who are a bit confused, downbursts are different from tornadoes. Downbursts got the air going down, while tornadoes spin like crazy. This event marks the third major weather event in Southwestern Ontario in 2025. Like, can we get a break?! π©
Everyone's dealing with the aftermath now, cleaning up the mess and hitting up their insurance companies. Hydro's trying to get the power back on. Sending good vibes to everyone in Chatham-Kent! π
