TC Energy pitched this whole "Canadian Security Alliance Council" idea where CSIS could drop "unclassified but sensitive" deets to major corporations, like, the ones making bank with $500 million+ annual revenue. The government even passed some laws that make it easier for CSIS to share info with peeps outside the government, including private companies.

CSIS is playing it cool, saying they're just tryna protect Canada's research scene and economy from foreign interference. They're all about having a "productive relationship" with the Business Council of Canada and are thinking about making this whole info-sharing thing official. In 2024, they supposedly had 28 disclosures to diff groups.

But here's where it gets a little sus. Some people are worried this could have a "chilling effect" on political protests, especially the ones against oil and gas projects. Like, could this intel sharing be used to shut down dissent? The BC Civil Liberties Association is definitely side-eyeing the whole situation.
