Yo, what is UP with Canada right now? Western provinces are straight-up battling a whole fleet of wildfires. Like, it's still basically spring, but the vibe is giving "end of the world" already. 💀

BC, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba are the main characters in this fiery saga. Specifically, northeastern B.C. (Kelly Lake area), Saskatchewan (Shoe Lake fire, Pisew fire, Jay Smith fire), and Manitoba (Flin Flon fire) are straight up feeling it rn. People are getting evacuated, which is a major stress.

The governors (or whatever they call themselves in Canada, lol) in Saskatchewan and Manitoba have even declared a provincial state of emergency, which is def not chill. It means things are getting real, real fast.

Why is this happening, tho?

Turns out, drought conditions, warmer temps (thanks, climate change 🙄), lack of rain, and dry-ass forests are to blame. And get this – holdover fires are also playing a role. Apparently, some fires can survive through the winter underground and then pop off again when things get warmer. Sus!

Experts are saying this is NOT normal for this time of year. It's usually way later in the season that things get this spicy. 🔥 Experts predict a hot and dry summer is incoming (a "heat dome"), which means the rest of the summer is gonna be a whole disaster.

Also, stay safe and be aware of the air quality. Wildfire smoke is no joke – it can mess with your eyes, nose, throat, give you headaches, and even cause more serious stuff like wheezing and chest pains. If you're in a fire zone, make sure to prep your home by clearing out any flammable stuff and creating a safety zone.

The Indigenous communities may hold the key to preventative measures, like controlled burning, so maybe we all oughta listen, no cap.
