The smoke's been rolling since early May, and there are like, over 212 active fires in Canada right now. Half of them are totally out of control, especially in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta. They've already burned through, like, 2 million hectares, which is wild.

And it's not just a vibe killer, it's straight-up dangerous. Experts are saying this smoke has some gnarly particles that can mess with your health. Air quality in some places, like Williamstown, Massachusetts, hit a "very unhealthy" 228 score. Some spots in the Midwest got a lil' better air on Wednesday, but, like, still sus.

Word is, these Canadian wildfires have been going on for a minute, forcing thousands to evacuate, and the smoke has even reached as far as Europe. Last year was supposed to be the worst wildfire season ever, but 2024 is doing the most.

Midwestern states are getting clapped with unhealthy air quality and the EPA map showing the ick across Wisconsin and northern Iowa. Places like Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan, Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, and New York are throwing out alerts like candy. Children's Minnesota is seeing an increase in patients with respiratory symptoms. The Air Quality Index (AQI) is saying particulates are the main issue.

So, the real ones are staying inside. If you got heart or lung problems, take extra care, and schools and preschools are keeping the kiddos inside, too. Avoid doing too much, and watch out for any breathing problems.
