Apparently, this whole thing kicked off after some absolute bozo attacked a bus driver on May 13th, 2025. Like, who does that?! 😠

The plan is to revamp the buses with some next-level security shields – we're talking Fort Knox level protection. They're also gonna slap up some signs reminding everyone that messing with a driver is a major no-no and that if you catch a case, be prepared to deal with the consequences, fr fr.

Ward 5 Coun. Raj Dhaliwal is the real MVP here, pushing for this funding to come straight from the reserves. It's not just about the upgrades, tho. They're also gonna be doing a deep dive into safety and training to make sure everyone knows how to handle sus situations, and every year, they're gonna drop a safety report so everyone can stay in the loop. Transparency? We love to see it. 🙌

The Amalgamated Transit Union Local 583 is like, "Finally!" They've been saying drivers are dealing with BS harassment on the daily and that it's been moving slower than dial-up internet to get actual changes made. Meanwhile, Calgary Transit has been rocking those temporary plexiglass shields and giving drivers some training, but clearly, that wasn't cutting it.

Darryl Flett (22) and Curtis Baker (20) are the ones who allegedly went full villain on the driver. They're facing charges of aggravated assault, robbery, and failing to comply with a court order. Big yikes.

The bus driver who got attacked is out of the hospital and chilling at home, recovering. Wishing them all the good vibes! 🙏
