TL:DR

Okay, fam, listen up! Cameron Lake's north side is straight-up on fire, and they're telling people to bounce ASAP. Wildfire's lookin' sus (probably a human, smh), and everyone's on deck trying to yeet the flames. If you're in the area, keep your eyes peeled and stay safe!

The Real Deal

Yo, so here's the sitch. There's a major wildfire going down on the north side of Cameron Lake. Like, a real-deal, pack-your-bags-and-skedaddle situation. They've issued an evacuation order for anyone chilling on Chalet Road and at Little Qualicum Falls Provincial Park. If you're there, you should've already dipped. No cap.

This blaze, dubbed the Wesley Ridge fire, started poppin' off just before midnight on Wednesday. It's already spread across 60 hectares, which is massive. The fire's acting kinda wild, with open flames and stuff, so it's a whole vibe... but a bad one.

Word on the street is that this whole mess is probably human-caused. Someone wasn't being careful, and now look at the consequences. Big yikes.

But don't stress too much (yet). The BC Wildfire Service has a whole squad (40 people!) on the ground, plus fire crews from Coombs and Dashwood. They've even got helicopters in the mix, and air tankers are on the way. They're pulling out all the stops to try and get this fire under control.

The Regional District of Nanaimo is taking this seriously, too โ€“ they've declared a whole state of emergency. So, yeah, things are pretty intense. If you're driving on Highway 4 near Cameron Lake, keep your eyes on the road and watch out for all the fire trucks and helicopters. Stay safe out there, folks!
