Yo, fam, what is going ON in BC?! Squamish is straight-up dealing with a major L 'cause of this wildfire near Dryden Creek. Started small, but it's blown up to 14.4 hectares overnight 😳. Like, that's a whole lotta fire, no cap. The District of Squamish is in a state of local emergency, so you know it's real.
People are getting evacuation alerts, which is never a vibe. And the air quality? Don't even get me STARTED. It's giving major ick because of all the smoke. Environment Canada even dropped a special air quality statement for Howe Sound, warning everyone to stay inside if they're feeling a little under the weather.
Turns out, this Dryden Creek fire was probably started by a human, which is kinda sus. Meanwhile, the biggest fire in BC, the Pocket Knife Creek wildfire (which is lowkey hilarious name tbh), is still spreading. That one's believed to be from lightning, so Mother Nature is throwing hands out here. Highway 97 had to shut down but is thankfully back open.
Across Canada, there are over 225 wildfires active rn. Things are getting kinda spicy with climate change and these longer wildfire seasons.
