BC Gov Kinda Messed Up, But They Fixed It: Sick Kids Fam Got Support Back 🙏

Aight, so here's the tea. The BC government was tryna low-key cut funding to this program that helps families with super sick kids who gotta travel to Vancouver for treatment. Like, these families already dealing with the most, and the gov was gonna make it even harder by cutting their accommodation stays from 30 nights to 15 and capping the fam income at $85k. That's straight up savage.

Variety, the charity running the program, was like, "We got no choice, demand is too high, and the funding is sus." The Health Minister tried to play it cool at first, saying they were sticking to the budget. But the opposition and basically everyone else started dragging them online, and things got spicy real quick. Everyone was big mad, especially rural families who gotta travel the most.

Then, the Health Minister had a whole change of heart. Maybe they saw the ratio they were getting? 👀 They were like, "Okay, okay, we messed up. We're gonna work with everyone to make sure these families get the support they need." Even the Premier was like, "Yeah, that ain't it. We gotta fix this."

So, the good news is the support is coming back. But, as of June 10th, the old rules were still on the websites, which is kinda sus. Variety says they're working with the government to finalize the details. Let's hope they get it sorted ASAP, for real.

Some people are still side-eyeing the government, tho. Like, where are their priorities at? Why cut support for sick kids when they're throwing money at other stuff? It's giving "questionable choices."
