BC Ferries is Giving Major Stress rn 💀🚗

Okay, fam, listen up 'cause this is important. Horseshoe Bay Ferry Terminal is straight-up CHAOS right now. We're talking mad traffic spilling onto Highway 1. Apparently, everyone and their grandma is tryna hit up Whistler or catch a ferry, and the combo is NOT it.

West Van PD is telling everyone without a reservation to just chill at home, like, seriously. If you DO have a booking, let the traffic controllers know ASAP. BC Ferries was already on it, telling people to plan ahead, especially if you're heading to Departure Bay or Langdale. But with Easter weekend travel at peak levels, Thursday and Friday to the Island and Sunday/Monday comin' back are expected to be absolutely cooked.

To make things worse, BC Ferries is down a vessel due to maintenance. They're making some changes to the schedule because two vessels are off doing maintenance. The Queen of Surrey and the Queen of Oak Bay, which are both 44, have experienced delayed out-of-service periods. So standby? Forget about it. They're saying availability's gonna be non-existent during peak hours, which is a HUGE L.

A BC Ferries rep said they're trying to keep things moving this long weekend and encourages people to book in advance. They also recommend traveling on Wednesday, Saturday, or Tuesday to avoid the main rush, traveling as a foot passenger, using public transportation to get to the terminal, and exploring alternate routes. At the end of the day this is just the reality of running an aging fleet. Stay safe out there, bestie!
