B.C. Wildfires: Things are Lookin' a Lil' Toasty 🔥

Alright, listen up, fam. B.C. is dealing with a whole lotta fire rn. We're talkin' wildfires, and they're not playing. Like, four new fires just yeeted into existence near Prince George, all burning outta control. They're anywhere from one to 80 hectares, so they're lowkey kinda big. The main suspect? Lightning. Shocker.

But wait, there's more! Another fire popped off near Nelson and is also doing its own thing, burning wild and free. Apparently, we got around 40 fires straight up vibing across the whole province. Thirty-one percent are 'cause of lightning, but a whopping 67% are human-caused. Yikes. And 3% are like, "IDK, mysterious."

And get this, the northeast part of B.C. is the driest place in the whole province, so fire warnings are high to extreme near the Alberta border. Not the vibe.

Anglemont Fire Deets

And there's more tea! A fire north of Anglemont showed up on May 8th. It was 0.6 hectares and the BC Wildfire Service said it was "out of control". But now they got it "held".

Turns out, this fire started during a wildfire risk reduction initiative. Some contractor was hired by the province to thin trees, clean up the area, and burn stuff in a controlled way. The contractor and local firefighters responded fast and contained the fire. Supposedly, it flared up from a place they already burned. Sketchy.
