Alberta Teachers Lowkey 'Bout to Strike? 🍎✏️

Is Alberta Facing a Back-to-School Teachers’ Strike?. OK, so Alberta teachers are like, 94.5% down to strike. No cap. They're saying Alberta's stingy with the $$ for schools. Gov's like "chill," but teachers are not having it. Could be a whole mess when school's back in session. πŸ‘€

TL:DR

The Deets

Alright, listen up, fam. So basically all the teachers in Alberta – like, nearly 39,000 of 'em – just voted, and 94.5% said they're ready to strike. That's a whole lotta teachers saying "Nah, we out!" The Alberta Teachers' Association (ATA) dropped the news, and it's kinda a big deal.

Why the beef? Apparently, Alberta's got the lowest per-student education funding in Canada. Stats Canada says they're like, 16% below the national average. Teachers are like, "That's sus!" and want more bread for the classroom.

So, what's next? The teachers have 120 days to strike after giving a 72-hour heads-up. School's supposed to start in about 83 days... you do the math. 😬

The government's tryna play it cool. Finance Minister Nate Horner said something about the teachers turning down a deal earlier this year that included a 12% pay raise over four years and a bunch of cash for classroom upgrades. But the teachers ain't buying it.

The ATA and the Teachers Employer Bargaining Association are gonna meet up at the end of the week, and again in August if they need to. We'll see if they can work things out, or if we're gonna have a major plot twist when school starts. Stay tuned, besties!
