Spilling the Tea
Okay, fam, listen up. This dude Aaron Gunn just won the election in North Island-Powell River in B.C. for the Conservatives. But here's the tea: he's been dropping some seriously sus takes about Canada's residential schools, saying Indigenous groups "asked for" them and that there was "no genocide". Major yikes, right?
Even tho people were calling him out left and right and wanted him cancelled, Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre was like, "Nah, he's good." Gunn tried to play it cool, saying he "recognized the horrific events," but the damage was already done. The First Nations Leadership Council was big mad.
When the votes were tallied, Gunn got 39.6%, leaving the New Democrat, Liberal, and Green candidates in the dust. This isn't even his first rodeo, he tried to become leader of the B.C. Liberal party but failed, so he said "Bet". Now he's in office and everyone's side-eyeing him.
In other news, the Canadian election had some interesting results. Word on the street is the Liberal Party of Canada is projected to win, and NDP leader Jagmeet Singh might have lost his seat! Elizabeth May from the Green Party still slaying it though.
