Aight, listen up, fam. The feds are straight up cutting around 800 jobs at passport offices across Canada by the end of June. Why? Apparently, Service Canada thinks fewer of y'all are gonna be hitting them up for passports. Major L.

These aren't just any jobs either; we're talking about term employees across the nation. They're getting the 411 and some backup, but still, that's rough, bruh.

Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) is out here saying they HAD to do it to balance the books. They gotta make sure the money coming in matches the money going out, including salaries and stuff. They saying it's fiscally responsible, or whatever 🙄.

But hold up, the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) ain't having it. They're calling cap on the whole thing, saying this move is gonna mess with the services everyone relies on. Translation: longer wait times at the passport office, weaker services for taxpayers and businesses. And get this – they're throwing shade at the government for promising "caps, not cuts" during the election. Ouch!

And it doesn't stop there. The Canada Revenue Agency is also slashing 280 jobs. So yeah, the government is def on a cutting spree, even though they said they wouldn't. Sus, right?

On the bright side (maybe?), Service Canada is flexing that 99% of passport applications are getting processed within the service standard as of April 1st. But will that last with 800 less peeps? Only time will tell, bestie.
