The Deets

Okay, so boom. Last Tuesday, the BC SPCA rolled up to a spot in Vernon after getting a tip that something was mega sus. Turns out, this "breeder" was keeping 34 Bengal cats in conditions that were straight up not it. Like, imagine cages smelling like straight ammonia, overflowing litter boxes, and not even enough space for the cats to chill. Major L.

The cats themselves weren't doing much better. A lot of them were underweight, some had the runs, and they were all getting treated for skin stuff. They're even checking for ringworm, yikes! The SPCA thinks this happened because the cats weren't getting the right care and were living in filth. Big yikes.

Even though they're probably traumatized, most of the cats were chill during their check-ups, which is a W. But Bengals are high-key a lot of work, being a mix of wild Asian leopard cats and regular house cats. They need lots of attention and enrichment. This breeder wasn't giving them the vibes at all.

Now the SPCA's asking for donations to help these cats get healthy again. They're also pushing for a ban on breeding hybrid cats, saying it's not fair to the animals.
